Menya Miyabi located at Queensbay Mall offers delicious authentic Hokkaido ramen for Penangites to enjoy. This was my first visit and I found the place to offer a pretty neat variety of ramen. I was told that the recipes were somehow adjusted to suit the taste of the locals here. And the best part is, it was said that dining back here is cheaper than it cost back in Japan.
Let's have a look at what Menya Miyabi Hokkaido Ramen has in their menu for diners to taste the flavours of Hokkaido.
Staring off with the simple yet tempting Croquette. Made from mashed potato with minced meat, taste really good when it's hot out from the fryer but just be careful not to burn your mouth :)
Next up was the Gyoza. Nobody would have thought these were all made from machines. Yea it was. Surprisingly despite being made by machine, each bite gives you that nice juicy tender bites.
Ok! It's time to get all ramen-up haha. I was actually told that back in Japan, it is norm that if the shop specializes in ramen, they would not have tons of other non-ramen related items in the menu. So back here at Menya Miyabi, they only focus mainly on their ramen and here are some of the ramens that are available for you to choose from.
Kara Miso Ramen - a hot and spicy ramen. It has mild spiciness, that coming from a person who sweats on the first bite of anything spicy haha.. Love the texture of the ramen together with the rich flavours of the broth.
Signature Tonkotsu Ramen - the broth is a final result of hours of simmering the pork bones. With its fullest flavour in the broth, it certainly makes every spoon of it bursting with such rice flavour and taste.
Yaki Miso Ramen - the broth of this ramen is a little more towards saltiness, as you may have known from the name that it contains Miso and Miso on its own is already salty.
At any point of time, should you find the broth to be too rich, you can always ask for additional soup.
The next item, I must admit was surprisingly irresistible.
Hokkaido Chilled Ramen Salad - we are so used to eating our noodles hot but how about having it cold? It's norm to see such dish in Japan, and this dish here was a bomb. I never expect it to be such refreshing taste with the ramen together with the other ingredients was just amazingly delicious.
If ramen noodles aren't your thing, don't worry as there are also other items on the menu such as:
Katsu Curry - tell you a secret, we were told it was cooked with some chocolate in it too. Yea you read that right, CHOCOLATE!
So if you happen to be in Queensbay or having the craving for ramen, then make a trip to Menya Miyabi Hokkaido Ramen.
